Established in Punta Santa Ana Manila the Church Of Christ began its journey in 1913. Founder Felix Manalo a former Methodist pastor and Seventh-day Adventist felt a calling to restore the original Christian church. He spent three days secluded studying religious texts emerging with new doctrines. He and his wife began preaching in Punta. Initially met with ridicule and even stones Manalo persisted baptizing converts including some of his persecutors.
The Church Of Christ officially registered with the Philippine government on July 27 1914 a date celebrated as a national holiday. This registration was seen by followers as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. The Church’s growth was remarkable. By 1963 when Manalo died the Church boasted 1250 chapels and 35 cathedrals nationwide.
His son Erano Manalo continued the expansion internationalizing the Church. The first service outside the Philippines was held in Hawaii in 1968. The Church Of Christ expanded across continents reaching Europe Africa and beyond. Eduardo V Manalo the current Executive Minister continues this global outreach.
