During the French Revolution, the original mansion and farm were sold to the Herelle family. They embarked on an ambitious residential project. This project culminated in the Château de Châtenay we see today. The romantic gardens surrounding the château are a true masterpiece. Designed in 1835 by Louis-Sulpice Varé, the same landscape architect who designed the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, the gardens offer a tranquil escape. The romantic design contrasts sharply with the formal French gardens that were popular in earlier times. The gardens were further enhanced in 1884 by the Bûchler brothers. They are the creative minds behind the stunning Parc de la Tête d’Or in Lyon. The Renaud family acquired the Château de Châtenay in 1922. They meticulously preserved the estate’s original character. They even commissioned renowned landscape gardener Gilles Clément in 1987 to create new areas within the park. Now designated as a National Heritage Site of France, Château de Châtenay is shielded from encroaching urban development. Today, Château de Châtenay serves as a unique venue. It hosts seminars, business meetings, product launches, and other corporate events. The château offers over 1000 square meters of functional and well-lit meeting rooms.
