This particular Kingdom Hall boasts a fascinating history. It’s a more recent addition. Built in 2016. This building however represents a much longer history. A history stretching back over 130 years in Hungary.
Jehovah’s Witnesses first arrived in Hungary around 1895. This was after the passing of a law ensuring religious freedom. A Hungarian of Canadian origin brought the faith back to his homeland. Early activity took place in Godollo. Two pioneers spread the Gospel. They faced imprisonment in Marianosztra. This didn’t stop their mission.
After World War II the faith flourished. More and more people joined in the 1950s. By the 1960s Kingdom Halls were established in several towns including Aszod. But even the success story in Aszod was gradual. Initially meetings were held in private homes or rented spaces. The need for a dedicated space however grew.
The Aszod congregation alone has nearly 70 members. A recent event attracted 119 attendees. This shows the growing need for a place like the Jehova Tanuinak Kiralysagterme in Budapest. The existing Kingdom Hall in Godollo became too small. It highlighted the growing faith in the community.
In 2014 permission was granted to build a Kingdom Hall in Aszod. This particular building stands on Rakoczi Street number 34.
