Have you noticed the unassuming yet steadfast building before you? This is Doveton Baptist Church. Its story is one of community, faith and quiet dedication, beginning in 1964.
The church’s roots go back to a small group. They first gathered in the manse at 129 Kidds Road. Reverend Alan Nunn was their leader. He guided them in their early days.
Doveton Baptist Church has always been about more than just Sunday services. In 1992, the Doveton Baptist Benevolent Society was established. It became an integral part of the church. This society focuses on serving the community. It embodies the church’s commitment to helping those in need. The Sudanese community also became part of the church. This shows Doveton Baptist Church’s welcoming spirit.
Time passed and the church building started showing its age. By the time its 50th anniversary approached, a significant remodel was needed. The ceiling was a major concern. It had suffered wear and tear. The church decided to replace it with a modern, more durable design.
The church had specific ideas for the new suspended ceiling. It needed to complement the church’s harmony and the crucifix. Energy conservation, acoustics and cost savings were also important considerations.

In 2006, Grant Ludlow was appointed pastor. He moved from Doveton Baptist to Hampton Park Baptist. This further strengthened the connection between the two churches.
