AUE provided the full design and detailing for a new sanctuary addition. It measures 8700 square feet. It was added to the existing wood-framed structure. AUE provided significant support during construction. This assured the completed building met all structural requirements.
The existing church was partly two stories. The existing sanctuary was removed for the new addition. The new sanctuary structure was attached to the remaining portion. This meant no seismic separation was needed.
Clear span steel trusses create a pitched roof. It has a truncated top with gable end walls. These steel trusses allowed a column-free interior space. The perimeter walls extend high on the gable ends. They are constructed with steel framing. They are infilled with metal studs. Steel braced frames provide lateral resistance. They resist wind and seismic loading.
The sanctuary’s interior floor combines wood-framed platforms. There is also a concrete slab on grade. Integral sloping and steps obtain the required elevation changes. The remaining wood-framed building was remodeled. It was strengthened to match the final architectural layout.
