Encompassed by major roads and a railway line, Johar Baru whispers stories of Jakarta’s evolving urban landscape. Johar Baru is a district nestled within Central Jakarta. It’s more than just a geographical marker. It’s a microcosm of the city’s vibrant spirit. Originally, Johar Baru was a part of Cempaka Putih. This larger district held seven administrative villages. In 1993, four of these villages, Galur, Tanah Tinggi, Kampung Rawa, and Johar Baru itself, branched off. They formed the new district we know today as Johar Baru. This area is now further divided into four distinct kelurahan, or administrative villages. These villages retain their original names: Galur, Tanah Tinggi, Kampung Rawa, and Johar Baru. Each village possesses its own unique identity and postal code, adding to the rich tapestry of Johar Baru. One of the key landmarks within Johar Baru is the Kawasan Departemen Kesehatan, or Health Department Complex. This complex underscores the district’s importance in the city’s administrative and social fabric. Johar Baru is bound by Kampung Rawa Selatan Raya Road and Mardani Raya Road to the east. The southern border is marked by Percetakan Negara Raya Road. To the north lies Letjend Suprapto Road. Finally, a railway line defines its western edge. These boundaries not only define Johar Baru physically but also symbolically, representing its distinct place in the heart of Jakarta.
