Fukuoka City Torikai Elementary School first opened its doors in 1952. It was established independently from Kusagae Elementary School. The school’s location is in the heart of a cultural and educational district. It sits between the Nishijin and Befu subway stations.
The school’s history is rich with milestones. In 1953 students planted cherry trees to commemorate the first graduating class. The school also adopted its emblem in 1953. This emblem features a bird design symbolizing peace and hope. The backdrop shows a tulip suggesting loveliness.
The school song was created in 1965 by teachers Morishige and Nagai. It debuted at a sports day event. The school’s brass band later performed the song within the school grounds.
