The Haydarhane Camii was founded in the 15th century. Ali Haydar Dede built it. He was one of the alemdars of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. This happened during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II.
Imagine this area centuries ago. The Haydarhane Camii stood proudly at the intersection of Horhor Street and Kavalalı Street. This was in the Saraçhane district. Historical sources refer to this street as Kırma Tulumba. The mosque was more than just a place of prayer. It was a dervish lodge. Şeyh Ali Haydarî oversaw it. He was also known as Haydar Dede.
The Haydarhane Camii became a vital part of the community. It left its mark on social life for centuries. This sacred space served as a refuge for reflection. People gathered here to seek solace.
Now picture this a total of 6 graves were also restored in its graveyard and garden, and the worship began. The construction was completed in exactly 1 year.
Sadly time took its toll on the Haydarhane Camii. The mosque gradually lost its structure. By the 20th century only traces remained. In the 1970s the last remnants disappeared. The Haydarhane Camii was almost forgotten.
