In 1942, thirty-one members gathered. Rev. R. Pitts led them at 3400 South Indiana Ave. This led to organizing Green Grove Baptist Church. The church later moved to 3411 S. Prairie.
Under Pastor Clifford Bolden in July 1956, Green Grove took a significant step. They purchased their present location at 1049 W. Marquette Rd. It became Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church #2.
Pastor Bolden served faithfully from 1953 until his passing in 1990. His leadership laid a strong foundation. He also set a precedent for future leaders.
After Pastor Bolden’s departure, Green Grove saw more changes. Rev. Bradley McBride Sr. and Rev. Roosevelt McGee both served. Each contributed uniquely to Green Grove’s spiritual growth.
Rev. Keenan Bond I was appointed as the Shepherd of Green Grove M.B. Church #2. This marked a new chapter. He brought fresh vision and leadership.
