This heroism earned them the highest honor of “Benemérito de la Patria” in 1976, recognizing their unwavering service and sacrifice. Despite the challenges, they continued to operate and even managed to maintain a fleet of 22 vehicles, even during the difficult time of the 80s. One of the fire stations in León, a stark reminder of their history of service, is located on the southern side of the Orcas Danilo Rosales Hospital. While the official building was later usurped by the Municipality, the firehouse has stood as a symbol of resilience and unity for León.
