Lake Burien Presbyterian Church strives to follow Christ’s radical model. It recenters the margins. It lifts up and serves the community. The goal is that all people can experience justice, peace, and love. Lake B has several core values. These values shape its identity and guide its actions.

Worship is about encountering God in all things. Equipping involves continual learning and growing. Hospitality means welcoming and engaging all people. Justice means contributing to equity and shalom. Diversity means reflecting the community in all its richness. Risk means not being afraid to fail or to challenge the status quo. Collaboration means partnering for community well-being.

Lake Burien Presbyterian Church runs several programs. These programs aim to serve the community. One program is Afterschool Tutoring and Summer Programming. The after-school program focuses on literacy skills. Small group tutoring is offered. Family engagement is a key component. The program runs from 3 pm to 6 pm after school. Children come twice per week. Lake B offers tutoring, homework help, and academic mentoring for 28 children daily. This has contributed to improved literacy and math skills. It creates a more secure connection to the community.

Summer day camps serve an average of 60 students. These students are in 1st through 6th grade. The program lasts for eight weeks. It provides social and recreational activities. It also combats summer learning loss with a literacy skill focus. This provides child care options for parents. It creates community-focused activities for the children. Lake Burien Presbyterian Church offers a Jr. Leaders camp for 7th-9th graders. This camp runs concurrently with the Summer Day camp. It works on life skills and healthy relationships. Campers learn to be part of a team. They develop critical thinking skills.

Lake Burien Presbyterian Church also offers Youth Mental Health Workshops. This is a recurring four-week program. Mental health professionals lead conversations. They talk with small groups of young people. Topics are relevant to their lives. Topics include social media and self-esteem. They cover self-care and its intersection with culture. Shame and relationships are also discussed. The program is offered three to four times each year. Each session has 10-13 participants. About 75% of participants are not members of Lake B. These sessions provide a safe place for teens. They can ask questions. They can explore topics that impact their lives and health.

Lake Burien Presbyterian Church invites all seekers. They can attend their Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. The Good Friday service is entitled “The 7 Last Words.” Seven diverse voices share reflections. They offer unique interpretations of Christ’s last words. The Easter Sunday service features a message. It is entitled “Seeking: who are you looking for?” It is based on the gospel of John.
