This isn’t just any church. The Bürgersaalkirche began its life not as a place of worship but as a Bürgersaal a Citizen’s Hall. Built between 1709 and 1710 by the talented Giovanni Antonio Viscardi it served as a prayer and meeting room for the Marian Men Congregation. Imagine the devout men gathering here centuries ago.

Only in 1778 did the Bürgersaal become the Bürgersaalkirche when an altar was consecrated. The building’s Baroque facade reflects its unique history. Notice the Madonna and Child above the entrance a symbol of the church’s dedication.
