Has anyone ever told you about the “bone clinic”? Haus 29 at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden isn’t officially called that. But it’s a nickname whispered among locals. It houses the Clinic and Polyclinic for Orthopedics. Haus 29 stands as a testament to modern medical ingenuity, seamlessly blending function with architectural design. The building underwent extensive renovations and expansions, concluding in 2008. This modernization transformed Haus 29 into a state-of-the-art facility. It now boasts two dedicated floors for patient care, the first and third floors. These floors hold four stations. They have a total capacity of 70 beds, arranged in two nursing areas that share a central nurses’ station. Moreover, the first floor houses an Intermediate Care unit with five additional beds. The ground floor of Haus 29 is dedicated to immediate patient needs. It includes examination rooms, treatment rooms, a cast room, and even a dedicated intervention room. For outpatient needs, there are also examination rooms on the ground floor. The second floor houses the administrative heart of the building. Here you’ll find doctors’ offices and general administrative areas. The newly renovated attic also provides additional administrative space. Essential support services are located in the basement. This includes changing areas for staff and technical control centers for the building systems. If you need to find Haus 29, remember it’s part of a larger complex. It connects to other buildings like Haus 30, which offers a convenient side entrance with automatic doors. Alternatively, a lift at the back of Haus 29 provides accessible entry. Haus 29 stands as a beacon of orthopedic care within the renowned University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus.
