“Ever feel a calling?” I ask. Right here stands the Roskill Fellowship. It is a place where faith and community intertwine. The Roskill Fellowship is more than just a building. It is a vibrant hub for religious activities.
Established to preach expositional sermons the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship seeks to explain the Bible. The church practically connects the Bible’s teachings with daily life. Its goal is for each member to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. The Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship Trust was registered on June 30 2008.
The Roskill Fellowship focuses on several communities. These include the general public, children, young people, older people and religious groups. It provides religious services and activities for all. The church manages adjacent buildings. These buildings are owned and leased out by the Trust. They secure the church’s space for future growth.
In August 2020, the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship faced challenges. It became a sub-cluster in Auckland’s Covid-19 outbreak. Some members were skeptical about the pandemic’s seriousness. This led to increased testing and isolation measures. By early morning, 213 of the church’s 332 members had been re-tested for Covid-19. Police intervened to disperse a group gathering at the church. The church leaders received a verbal warning. Further gatherings could result in prosecution.
Despite these challenges, the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship continued its mission. It actively encouraged members to retest and comply with public health advice. Nearly 500 people associated with the church and their close contacts were asked to get retested.
According to charity documents the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship was established in 1995. In 2019, an average of 264 adults attended Sunday services. The church has close ties to the Bay Roskill rugby league club. It provides coaching, operational and financial support.
The church garnered a total revenue of $2479450 in 2019. This included over $1.8 million from donations and fundraising. The church’s property assets are valued at $14456853.
The Roskill Fellowship stands as a testament to faith and community. It strives to connect biblical teachings with everyday life. It seeks to support its members through various activities and services. The Roskill Fellowship remains a pillar in the Mt Roskill community.
