West Beach has been a refreshing destination for beachgoers since 1928. Back in the 1920s, it was a hub for Melbourne’s growing beach culture. But, by the turn of the century, the building fell into disrepair. After seven years of careful restoration, this bathing beauty has been lovingly restored.

St Kilda Beach itself is a sandy beach about 700 meters long. It stretches between St Kilda Marina and St Kilda Harbour. This area is along Jacka Boulevard and St Kilda Esplanade. Catani’s contributions were so valued that several features are named after him. There are the formal gardens at West Beach, an ornamental arch, and a memorial clock tower.
West Beach Bathers Pavilion was built as one of three open sea bathing houses in the late 1920s. It was part of St Kilda’s lively restoration. In the 1960s, St Kilda became known for its bohemian style. The pavilion was decommissioned and left in disrepair. Kiteboarding brought a new surge of visitors to St Kilda’s west beach. Young investors breathed new life into the venue. After a two-year redevelopment, West Beach Bathers Pavilion emerged. The historical structure remained intact. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a wrap-around deck were added.
Today, West Beach Bathers Pavilion caters to the modern beachgoer. The cafe serves award-winning coffee and delicious meals sourced from Victoria. West Beach is also an impressive event space. It can host weddings, corporate events, and cocktail parties.
