Have you noticed how this small chapel exudes an aura of quiet resilience? This is the Kapelle St. Nikolaus. Though modest in size, it holds within its walls centuries of history and devotion.

The Kapelle St. Nikolaus stands as a testament to enduring faith. It is a place where prayers have echoed. It is a place where the community has gathered for generations.

Let’s step back in time to the late 15th century. It was then that the Kapelle St. Nikolaus was erected. This was a period of great artistic and architectural flourishing. The chapel’s design reflects the era’s sensibilities. It features a simple yet elegant rectangular nave. The integrated, three-sided choir to the east adds depth to the chapel.

The choirflank tower rises gracefully from the north wall. Inside the tower are three historic bronze bells. These bells call the faithful to prayer.

The oldest bell dates back to 1606. Jonas and Hyronimus Gesus cast it. This bell weighs approximately 900 kg. Its sound is a deep, resonant A flat. Another bell was cast in 1697. Peter Ernst from Lindau created it. This bell weighs about 400 kg. It rings out with a B flat. The youngest bell was cast in 1801. The Rosenlecher foundry in Konstanz made it. This bell is the smallest. It weighs about 150 kg. Its tone is a high F.

Inside the Kapelle St. Nikolaus, the high altar draws the eye. The altarpiece shows the Adoration of the Kings. Statues of St. Nicholas and St. Pelagius flank the altarpiece. These figures represent important figures in Christian tradition.

The organ was built in 1876. It was the first creation of the Mönch Orgelbau. This organ fills the chapel with music during services.

The Kapelle St. Nikolaus is more than just a building. It is a living part of Dingelsdorf’s history. It is a symbol of faith and community.
