The two churches experienced severe damage during the war. Greenford Methodist Church offered help to the Baptist church for a short time. Then, it too was bombed. Despite these hardships, the churches cooperated. They joined together for Christmas and Good Friday services for many years.
During the Second World War, Greenford Methodist Church offered assistance to the Greenford Baptist Church. The Baptist Church’s building was destroyed by a bomb in 1940. The Methodist church offered the use of their premises.
Fast forward to recent times. In 2018, Greenford Methodist Church underwent significant improvements. The Ealing Trinity Circuit supported the project. The goal was to improve the church’s street presence, hospitality, access, and social spaces. Options included remodeling the existing building. A new extension was built. It was designed to be low energy and low maintenance. It would also meet Passive House standards. The extension incorporated courtyard gardens.
Funding came from two sources. Part of it came from leasing land to a residential developer. The Lottery Fund also contributed. A two-bed flat was included. A community café was added. A new hall was built. This created a vibrant mixed-use building. It was linked to the existing Greenford Methodist Church.
