Frilandsmuseet offers a captivating glimpse into Denmark’s past. It is spread across 86 acres. You can explore more than 50 farms, mills, and houses dating from 1650 to 1940. Each building was carefully moved here. They were reassembled to show their original beauty.

The volunteers at Frilandsmuseet are wonderful. You can meet them operating the old wooden windmill. You might also gather at the village pool. There, in a small Funen house, women bake bread and arrange wool. Discover the manor’s bees with the beekeeper’s guild. There is always something to get involved with.
Almost every region in Denmark is represented here at Frilandsmuseet. You can also see the Faroe Islands. Former Danish provinces of southern Sweden and northern Germany are also on display.
