“Rennequin,” a name whispered with respect. It echoes through the 17th arrondissement. Today we explore Rue Rennequin. It is a public road in Paris.

Rue Rennequin begins at 85, avenue de Wagram. It ends at 22, rue Guillaume-Tell. The street is 575 meters long and 10 meters wide. Rue Rennequin provides access to two beautiful promenades. These are the promenade Gilberte-Brossolette and the promenade Rosemonde-Pujol. Both are named in memory of two female members of the French Resistance.

But who was Rennequin? Samuel Rennequin was a mechanic. He hailed from Liège. More importantly he constructed the old machine of Marly. He lived from 1645 to 1708.

Now a bit about the history of Rue Rennequin. The street was opened in 1827. At that time Neuilly was a separate commune. It was originally named rue Lombard. This was after one of the street’s creators. Later a decree classified it as part of the Parisian road system. The street was renamed Rue Rennequin.
