Indoor Practice Facility

Is there anything quite as Texan as Longhorn football? Today, we’re standing right outside a structure UT players affectionately call “The Bubble.” The Indoor Practice Facility, officially opened in 2002, changed the game for the Longhorns. Imagine a time before this massive structure existed. Texas summers are notorious for their heat, and fall often brought unpredictable weather. The Indoor Practice Facility offered a much-needed solution, a climate-controlled haven spanning over 70,000 square feet. Think about that for a moment – that’s larger than a football field! This state-of-the-art facility cost a cool $4 million to construct and was finished incredibly quickly in just five months. The team needed it, especially with a tough stretch of October road games looming. The Indoor Practice Facility isn’t just about escaping the elements, though. It boasts a full FieldTurf football field and even goal posts for practicing kicks. This means the Longhorns can hone their skills, rain or shine, in a controlled environment. It’s a testament to the university’s dedication to their athletes and a key factor in their continued success on the field.
