A hidden gem awaits you. This is Square Jean Perrin. Tucked away near the Champs-Élysées it’s a tranquil oasis.

Let me introduce you to Square Jean Perrin. This small square in the 8th arrondissement of Paris honors Jean Perrin. He was a chemist and politician. He even won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1926.

The square boasts a beautiful marble fountain. It’s called Seine and its tributaries. Sculptor François Raoul Larche created it. The fountain depicts three groups of figures. Each group shows a woman and two children. They represent the Seine’s tributaries. The Aube the Loing the Essonne the Yonne the Armançon the Cure the Oise the Marne and the Petit Morin are all represented.

A bronze medallion also stands in the square. It’s a tribute to Jean Perrin himself. Medallist Josette Hébert-Coffin created this work of art.

Interestingly in the early 2020s there was a plan. The plan was to restructure the Grand Palais. This would have involved lowering the square. It was meant to improve access to the museum. Thankfully this plan was abandoned. Instead a more modest restoration of the building took place.

So here you stand in Square Jean Perrin. A quiet tribute to a brilliant scientist. A peaceful refuge from the Parisian bustle. Enjoy the calm and appreciate the artistry. The artistry that surrounds you here. This hidden gem truly is a special place.
