The Warner Cemetery Plaque, dedicated in 1985, marks the site of a small family plot that whispers tales of Carrollton’s early days. Robert and Sarah Dean Warner, Irish immigrants, arrived in Texas in 1852 as part of the Peters Colony. They claimed land in this area, establishing a farm that would root their family in the burgeoning community. Sadly, tragedy struck in 1873 with the passing of Robert Warner, Jr. This loss led to the creation of the Warner family graveyard. Over time, ten souls found their final rest under these Texas skies, their headstones standing as silent witnesses to history. The Warner family didn’t just settle in Carrollton, they shaped it. Their descendants rose to prominence, leaving their mark on the community’s growth and development. Today, the Warner Cemetery, though small and unassuming, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of early settlers and the lasting impact one family can have on a community.
