That intoxicating aroma. It pulls you in doesn’t it? Right here before you stands Dallmayr Kaffee a Munich institution. A place steeped in history and brimming with delicious secrets.

Dallmayr Kaffee didn’t begin as a coffee house. In fact its origins trace back to 1700. A Munich merchant Christian Reitter ran a business on this very spot. It was a grocer’s shop a far cry from the renowned coffee house it is today.

The name Dallmayr arrived much later in 1870. Alois Dallmayr a merchant from Wolnzach purchased the business. He then sold it in 1895 but his name remains forever attached to this place. Therese Randlkofer a remarkable businesswoman for her time inherited the shop. She transformed Dallmayr into one of Europe’s premier delicatessens. She even secured fifteen royal purveyor titles quite an achievement.

The Dallmayr coffee era started in 1933. A young coffee merchant Konrad Werner Wille established a specialist coffee department. This department is still here. Its fame is partly due to the iconic television advertisements for Dallmayr Prodomo.

This wasn’t just any coffee. The coffee was and still is weighed using antique beam scales. It’s a detail that adds to the unique charm of Dallmayr. They even use exquisite hand-painted porcelain vessels from Nymphenburg. The coffee itself is sourced from high-altitude regions around the world. Dallmayr prioritizes small family farms ensuring high quality.

The original store known as the Stammhaus is a marvel. It boasts nineteen specialist departments. Each offers a treasure trove of culinary delights from coffee and chocolates to wine and cheese. There’s a production kitchen on the second floor. Seventy chefs prepare gourmet salads dishes and cakes. Even the crayfish in the cherubs fountain are for sale. It’s a sensory feast a true immersion in the world of fine food and drink.

Dallmayr’s success story didn’t end with the Stammhaus. They branched into catering and vending machines. They even have a two-Michelin-starred restaurant inside. Dallmayr Kaffee a humble beginning an empire built on quality. And exquisite coffee. Step inside you won’t regret it.
