Nine members formed the initial congregation. Reverend Josiah Akindayomi founded it based on a divine covenant. God promised to provide for the church if its members served faithfully and obeyed His word. This covenant became the cornerstone of RCCG’s growth. Prayer holiness and evangelism formed the tripod supporting its mission.
The church’s expansion has been nothing short of remarkable. It now boasts parishes in 140 countries. In the UK its journey started in 1988 as a house fellowship in London. It has grown to over 375 parishes across the UK and Ireland. Open Heavens Edinburgh plays a vital role in this expansive network. It’s not just about attending services here. Following the passing of Reverend Akindayomi in 1980 Pastor Enoch Adeboye took the reins.
