Prayers resonate within these walls. This is GBI Pelopor. Let’s explore its story.
GBI Pelopor stands as a testament to faith. It is a beacon in Jakarta. Its foundations are built on devotion. Its walls echo with hymns.
In 1961 a seed of faith was planted. A small prayer group met in a garage. It was a humble beginning in South Jakarta. Pdt Stockwell Sears hosted this group. They gathered at Jalan Galuh I No 11. Their hearts yearned for fellowship. They sought to understand God’s word.
As time passed the community grew. More people joined their gatherings. The garage could no longer contain them. They decided to acquire land. A plot was purchased on Jalan Tirtayasa Raya. This was in Kebayoran Baru South Jakarta.
While waiting for their house of worship to be built the congregation found a temporary home. They worshipped in a classroom. This classroom belonged to SMEA 3 Jakarta Selatan. It was a modest space but their spirits were not dampened.
A significant moment arrived. On September 1 1963 the Geredja Baptis Kebajoran Charter was signed. Fifteen members put their names to this historic document. The construction of their house of worship was completed. It became a place of worship for the community. This event marked a milestone for Baptists in Indonesia.
The Gereja Baptis Indonesia Kebayoran adheres to its foundational principles. These principles are enshrined in its articles of association. They guide its ministry and pastoral care. They are in accordance with the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
The core beliefs of Gereja Baptis Indonesia Kebayoran include the conviction that God wants mankind free from sin. They believe salvation is a gift for those who believe in Jesus. He is the eternal Lord Savior and Redeemer. They emphasize the teachings of John 316. God gave his only Son for eternal life.
The church believes in the Trinity. God exists as Father Son and Holy Spirit. They believe in the full divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ. He is humanity’s only Savior. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to continue Christ’s ministry.
The Bible is their guide. It is the inspired Word of God. It directs faith moral conduct and spiritual life. Salvation is a gift through faith in Jesus. Repentance is necessary to receive forgiveness.
Today GBI Pelopor continues this legacy. It is a place of worship and community. It is a place where faith is nurtured. It is a place where lives are transformed. It is a place where the word of God is preached. It is a place of fellowship. It is a place of worship.
