“I can’t believe that in a world of so much struggle, we still have places like this.” You hear a visitor whisper as you stroll towards Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. You smile, knowing exactly what they mean. Even on the busiest street in the city, this church seems to stand apart.

Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church isn’t just a place to worship. It’s a story, a testament to faith, hope, and community. Founded in 1964 by the late Rev. Lallie D. Johnson, it’s more than just a structure; it’s a haven where people gather to find strength and spiritual guidance.

You’d never guess that this imposing building was once a humble gathering place. The late Rev. Johnson started in a small building, holding church services on a Wednesday night with just 13 people. With immense faith and unwavering dedication, she nurtured what became this incredible church. In the 1970s, the church was still small but already bursting with love and energy. Evelyn Johnson started the Usher Board, Maxine Johnson organized a General Mission, and the church thrived. But as the years passed, Rev. Johnson’s health began to fail. In 1982, the church was heartbroken but in her memory, they kept the spirit of Christ Way alive.

A few years later, the church needed expansion. They rallied together, raised funds, and started a construction project. In 1994, they finally unveiled the building that you see today, the result of years of hard work and devotion. Though the church faced many trials, like most, they never lost faith. They persevered, grew and welcomed new members, becoming a beacon of hope.

It seems there’s always something going on at Christ Way. You can hear the laughter of young children in the Sunday School, smell the fragrant incense during services, and feel the warmth of community in the fellowship hall. Christ Way Missionary Baptist Church is a place where people from all walks of life come together, united by faith and compassion. It’s a place that, even today, radiates the hope and strength that Rev. Johnson envisioned, making it a cornerstone of the community.
