Centuries of tradition linger within these walls. Welcome to Yeni Hamam. The Turkish bath, or hammam, is more than just a bath. It is a centuries-old tradition. It leaves you feeling refreshed and deeply cleansed. Turkish bathing practices are an essential part of Turkish culture.

Yeni Hamam offers an experience. You can choose a historic hammam reminiscent of the Ottoman Empire. Or you can go for a modern spa-style experience. It is a must-try ritual when visiting Turkey.

Upon arrival at Yeni Hamam, you are greeted at the reception. You will be asked to choose your preferred service. Options range from self-service to a full-service package. The full-service hammam includes a professional scrub and massage.

You will be given a peshtemal. It is a traditional thin cotton towel. You wrap it around your body. You might get wooden sandals, takunya. Men and women usually have separate sections. Some smaller bathhouses have different hours for each gender. Many hammams provide lockers. You can store your clothes, shoes, and valuables. High-end hammams offer private changing cabins.

The Yeni Hamam has three main areas. First, there is the hot room, hararet. You sweat and relax there. Second, there is the warm room. Scrubbing and washing take place in the warm room. Finally, there is the cooling room. You relax there after the treatment.

Inside Yeni Hamam, you are led to a heated marble platform. It is in the center of the hot room. This area is warm and humid. It is designed to open up your pores.

If you opt for a traditional experience, an attendant will scrub your body. Men have a tellak. Women have a natir. They use a rough kese, an exfoliating glove. It removes dead skin.

After scrubbing, you will be rinsed. Warm water is poured over you from a metal bowl. Next comes a foam massage. You are covered in soft, fragrant bubbles. You are gently massaged.

After the scrub and foam massage, the attendant rinses you. They use buckets of water. Some hammams offer hair washing and head massages. This depends on the package you choose.

Once the cleansing ritual is complete, you go to a cooling area. You rest there. Your body adjusts to normal temperatures. You can sip Turkish tea or sherbet. Sherbet is a traditional fruit drink.

Some hammams offer oil massages or face masks. You can bring your own kese glove. You can purchase one at Yeni Hamam. Some modern hammams provide spa services. These include aromatherapy and clay masks.

Most people wear a peshtemal. It is not a bathing suit. Full nudity is optional. It is more common in traditional hammams. Men wear a peshtemal around their waist. It is similar to a sarong. Women wrap the peshtemal around their entire body. It covers them from the chest down.

Some hammams provide soap and towels. Bringing your own sandals and toiletries is a good idea. Drink plenty of water before and after. You will be sweating a lot.

Relax and enjoy the experience at Yeni Hamam. The scrubbing might feel intense. It is deeply cleansing. Trust the process.

Many luxury hotels have private hammams. These include the Four Seasons and the Ritz Carlton. A five-star Turkish Hamman encounter might be gentler. It is a good way to ease into the scene versus a public bath. Guests are treated in small marble hammam rooms. These rooms are decorated with marble benches. They have designer appointments. You’ll find thick terry-towelling bathrobes. There are scented aromatherapy oils. Designer toiletries and herbal teas are available. The lounge rooms are luxuriously furnished.

Yeni Hamam offers a journey. It is a journey of cleansing and relaxation. It connects you to a rich cultural heritage.
