“A place of straight paths,” someone once described Masjid Darul Mustaqiem. Masjid Darul Mustaqiem sits modestly within the bustling grounds of PT ADHI KARYA, a construction company, on Jalan Raya Pasar Minggu. The name, Darul Mustaqiem, translates to “place of those who are righteous” or “place of straight paths,” reflecting the mosque’s purpose as a center for spiritual guidance. Imagine arriving at Masjid Darul Mustaqiem after a short journey from Bogor. The trip involves a commuter train to Pasar Minggu Baru station, followed by a quick angkot ride. The mosque, relatively new, having been inaugurated in March 2012, stands as a blend of Javanese and Betawi architectural styles. The limasan roof and open pendopo structure speak to Javanese influence, while the ornate details under the roof evoke the traditional houses of Betawi culture. Surrounding Masjid Darul Mustaqiem is a tranquil garden, filled with lush greenery, shrubs, and even fruit trees like sapodilla, guava, mango, and kluweh. This green sanctuary offers a welcome respite from the Jakarta heat. Inside, the prayer hall, spacious enough for approximately 600 worshippers, features white marble floors covered with plush green carpets. The altar, crafted from dark green marble, complements the mihrab, a niche in the wall indicating the direction of Mecca. The mihrab itself is a striking feature, a deep, pointed alcove housing the imam’s prayer mat and a simple wooden mimbar, or pulpit, bearing the company’s logo. Flanking the mihrab are copper hexagonal ornaments inscribed with verses from the Quran. Above, the inscription “Allah” is prominently displayed, beneath a digital clock. Look up to admire the true centerpiece of Masjid Darul Mustaqiem. The octagonal dome, decorated with geometric patterns and a central eight-petaled flower, is a breathtaking sight. A chandelier with 36 lights hangs from the dome, casting a warm glow on the stained-glass patterns and Quranic calligraphy adorning the walls. Two split air conditioners and six high-powered fans ensure a comfortable temperature for prayer and reflection. The mosque also serves as a community center, with regular announcements about collections and upcoming events. The walls, foldable for special occasions, allow the space to be adapted for religious gatherings and teachings.
