Founded in 1991 Quaystone Church has a rich history. It began with a vision to reach the Isle of Dogs community. Initially Quaystone met at the Docklands Settlement Centre. Later it moved to its current location at Island House Community Centre on Roserton Street. This vibrant church sits near Canary Wharf. It’s a striking contrast of modern and traditional architecture. The O2 Arena and a small Thames beach are nearby.
Quaystone’s congregation is incredibly diverse. People from many nationalities and backgrounds worship together. They are members of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Evangelical Alliance. Quaystone is committed to serving the local community. They show God’s love through practical actions and prayer. The church has strong links with many other organizations in Tower Hamlets. Their aim is to be an active church bringing God’s love into everyday life. They actively seek God’s plan for the church and its individual members.
Rob Lambden a long-serving member leads the church. He’s lived on the Isle of Dogs for over 25 years. He runs his own business there. Rob enjoys examining the word of God. He is known for discussing his beliefs intellectually and spiritually. Rachel Redfearn another leader is passionate about community change. She was instrumental in setting up a local birth centre. She also founded a community project supporting vulnerable families. Rose Boakye-Yiadom a trained midwife adds another dimension. She’s passionate about prayer. Her family is very important to her.
Quaystone currently seeks God’s guidance for future ministry. They are without a Minister. Despite this they continue to thrive. They’ve adapted to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. They now hold interactive Zoom services every Sunday. You can join their online community. Quaystone is a church actively engaging its community. It continues to grow and serve the people of the Isle of Dogs. It’s a place of faith community and service. A place where God’s love is actively demonstrated.
