Escuela 357 in Montevideo participated in the “Pinceladas de mi barrio” contest. The contest was part of “Montevideo, capital iberoamericana de la cultura”. Education centers had to graphically represent their neighborhood identity. They did this by creating a mural. Escuela 357 was one of the winners. The students got to enjoy an artistic show.
Sandra Nedov is the mayor. She gave the students a diploma for their participation. She thanked them for their initiative. Then the show began. It was “Kisama Macuá: El Gran Cocinero” by Esquinas de la Cultura. The children listened to stories. There was a lot of candombe music too. This event happened during Afro-Uruguayan Culture Week. The school authorities and students loved it. They actively participated in the show.
The students artistically showed their neighborhood identity. It is closely linked to candombe. This is reflected in the mural.
Escuela 357 was the winner of the Recieduca contest. This contest raises awareness about environmental care. It also promotes the importance of recycling. Students collected plastic bottles. They competed for prizes. Escuela 357 collected 196.2 kg of bottles.
The Municipio D and other organizations supported this activity. Escuela 357 shows us the power of education. It fosters creativity and environmental responsibility. This school is a true gem in Montevideo.
