This is the Grufthaus, a neo-gothic tomb built around 1890 for Wilhelmine Natalie Rübel. Constructed of clinker and sandstone, it once stood proud, a testament to a life passed. Today, the Grufthaus stands as a haunting, yet beautiful ruin. Its roof is gone, revealing the sky above. The central section still features a portal and a stepped gable. Niches on the sides hint at where figures once stood guard. Inside, remnants of grave slabs whisper stories of those laid to rest. Sehlis isn’t just about the past. The Grüner Ring Leipzig (Outer Ring) and the Parthe-Mulde cycling route wind through the town, inviting modern-day explorers.
