Feel the cool spray of the Trevor Moss Davis Memorial Fountain. This isn’t just any fountain. It’s a poignant tribute a lasting legacy.

The Trevor Moss Davis Memorial Fountain stands proudly in Mission Bay. Built in 1950 it’s a gift to Auckland. Eliot and Stella Davis gifted it to the city. They wanted to remember their son Trevor. He was a successful businessman. He died tragically young in 1947. The fountain’s location is perfect. It’s right by the waterfront. It offers stunning views.

Architect George Tole designed the fountain. Sculptor Richard Gross brought it to life. Eight months of work transformed Sicilian marble into art. Fluted marble catches the sunlight. Three bronze sea monsters spout water. Thousands of turquoise tiles add a vibrant splash of color. The fountain is truly a masterpiece. It’s one of Auckland’s finest jewels.

Sadly the fountain requires almost weekly cleaning during summer. Sunscreen broken glass and litter pollute the water. It takes 30000 liters to refill it. The council asks visitors to be respectful. The fountain is a memorial not a swimming pool. Please be mindful of the water and take your rubbish home.

The Trevor Moss Davis Memorial Fountain is more than just a pretty sight. It’s a story of family loss and enduring love. It’s a reminder of a life cut short. It’s a testament to the generosity of a grieving father. The next time you visit Mission Bay remember Trevor. Remember the family’s gift to Auckland. Remember to treat this special place with respect.
