Established in 1957 Punggol Secondary School boasts a rich history. Initially known as Singapore Girls’ Vocational High School it was located on Oxley Road. The school offered vocational training. Subjects included bookkeeping home economics and typing. In 1977 the school relocated to Toa Payoh East. A name change followed in 1978 becoming Pei Dao Secondary School. It expanded offering English-stream classes and becoming co-educational. By 1986 Pei Dao transitioned into a government school.
Punggol Secondary School’s journey took another significant turn in 2001. The school moved to its current location in Punggol New Town. It was renamed Punggol Secondary School. The Chinese name was retained. This reflects the school’s enduring commitment to character development.
