The Sportparksee Grambke wasn’t always here. In 2002, this area was excavated. The purpose was to extract sand. This sand was needed for the construction of the nearby industrial park. By 2005, the excavation was complete. The resulting void transformed into a beautiful lake. It was then opened for public bathing.
Today, the Sportparksee Grambke spans about 40 hectares. Its maximum depth reaches 16.5 meters. The lake is located in the Burg-Grambke district. It has become a popular destination for various activities. People enjoy swimming and engage in diverse water sports.
The water quality here is excellent. It invites swimmers to enjoy a refreshing dip during warm summer days. A large bathing beach and numerous smaller coves dot the shoreline. These sandy areas provide ample space for visitors to relax. Wide grassy areas also offer room for sunbathing.
A walking path encircles the Sportparksee Grambke. It invites visitors for long walks. A beach volleyball area offers another recreational option. Water sports reign supreme at Sportparksee Grambke. Since 2006, the association Grambker Sportparksee e.V. has managed the area. They are responsible for the upkeep of the Sportparksee Grambke.
Interestingly, the Sportparksee Grambke is slightly colder than other Bremen lakes. Despite this, its clean water makes it attractive for water activities. You might spot a regatta taking place. Sailors, rowers, and canoeists often use the lake for racing.
During the bathing season, lifeguards from DLRG provide safety. They are present from May 15 to September 15. They also provide support for sports events. The lifeguard station is equipped for first aid.
Not far from the Sportparksee Grambke lies the smaller Grambker See. It is only 2.4 hectares in size. The Sportparksee Grambke offers a different experience. It is much larger and offers diverse activities.
