Intrigued by the vibrant energy of Pandayan? This bookshop is more than just a place to buy books. It’s a movement. Pandayan Bookshop began in 1993 as a small section within CVC Supermarket in Grace Park, Caloocan City. Now, Pandayan has blossomed into a chain across Luzon, its headquarters and distribution center located in Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City. Pandayan’s vision is to become a national brand, a partner to the community in the pursuit of goodness and knowledge. The chain’s unique corporate culture, known as “Kultura ng Tagumpay” (Culture of Success), guides nearly a thousand employees. This culture champions employee empowerment and customer care, emphasizing rewards, bonuses, profit sharing, and quality management. Pandayan also goes beyond retail, organizing Sining Pandayan, arts and crafts workshops that engage over 100,000 teachers and students. The company’s commitment to community extends to organizing annual poster making, lyre band, and dance competitions in Malolos, Bulacan, during National Arts Month in February. The staff, known as “Panday,” embody Pandayan’s values of reliability, honesty, cheerfulness, and genuine care for their customers or “Panauhin”. They even conduct fieldwork, visiting customers at their offices or schools to understand their needs. This commitment to service has earned Pandayan recognition. Almost all 135 branches are Bagwis awardees of the Department of Trade and Industry. Pandayan has also won in the Productivity Olympics of the National Wages and Productivity Commission. But Pandayan is more than accolades. It’s about the Panday, empowered to make decisions, fostering a “Kapwa Company” where everyone is a “Kapwa,” focused on personal growth, community, and shared humanity. This empowerment fuels creativity and strengthens the entire organization. Pandayan’s history is divided into three phases. Pandayan Uno focused solely on retail. Pandayan Dos expanded its mission to include community support, helping organizations like the Nazareth Home for Children and the Philippine Eagle Foundation. Now, in Pandayan Tres, the bookshop aims to be a beacon of positive values, encouraging the Panday to lead meaningful lives, driven by the dream of owning a home, educating their children, and enjoying a comfortable life. Pandayan’s commitment to its employees fuels their dedication to excellent service.
