Parque de la Costa is one of the main entertainment destinations here. It has over 40 rides. These include roller coasters, water rides and live shows. All ages can find something to enjoy. Live music shows and dining options enhance the experience. Special events add to the excitement. During January, the park extends its hours. Fridays and Saturdays are open from noon to 10 p.m.
The park offers themed areas and games for children. Juegos Mecánicos is in Tigre. This is about an hour from downtown Buenos Aires. Public transportation provides easy access. Take the train from Retiro station. Use the Mitre line Ramal Bmé. Get off at Mitre station. Then take the Tren de la Costa to Delta station. Bus line 60 Tigre also goes to the park.
Inaugurated on May 5, 1997, Parque de la Costa quickly became a tourist destination. It was designed by the architecture studio Pfeifer-Zurdo. President Carlos Menem and Governor Eduardo Duhalde opened it. Initially, the park featured a small roller coaster called Tronador. Other attractions included La Vuelta al Mundo. There was also the El Dragón water coaster. Various shows added to the entertainment.
The park evolved rapidly between 1998 and 2000. The Tronador roller coaster was dismantled. In September 1998, Boomerang opened. New attractions were installed. These included La expedición al arcoíris. There were also the Sillas voladoras.
Pieces arrived from the Netherlands for El Desafío. This became Latin America’s first inverted roller coaster. It opened in July 1999. A new theater also opened that year. The show Cara de Barro y la Llave del Río was presented.
Vertigo Xtremo opened in 2001 after delays. However, the Rápidos del Delta water ride was never built. El Dragón underwent changes. It was renamed Saltos del Delta. Its original decorations were removed.
Several changes occurred between 2003 and 2006. The theater for Cara de Barro y la llave del río closed. A large structure simulating a mountain was built. It was called Aconcagua. The theater later reopened as the Nini Marshall theater. The IMAX simulators and theaters closed in 2003. The area became El reino del río. La comarca de los sueños opened with non-mechanical games for children. In late 2005, the Anfiteatro Musical closed. In late 2006, the EL LEJANO OESTE area was constructed. This featured Western-themed decorations.
Buenos Aires 2067 was demolished. Only the reflecting pool remained. Botes Chocadores opened. This had twenty motorboats. Karting Monza was built around Vértigo Xtremo.
Announcements for Ecoparque appeared in 2007. This would be a zoo across the Luján River. However, the announcements disappeared. In 2009, the botes chocadores became botes en el Nilo. La maldición de Anubis opened in El Reino del Río. This was a terrifying Egyptian-themed labyrinth.
Eduparque opened in July 2009. It demonstrated physics laws. Stargate was installed. It simulated astronaut weightlessness. In summer 2010, Torbellino opened. This was a Spinning Wild Mouse roller coaster.
Cenicienta and Peter Pan shows premiered in September 2010. La Bella Durmiente also debuted. In 2011, the Pulpo attraction moved. It made way for a children’s car track. Parque Match began in 2012. This was an interscholastic competition using mechanical games.
In July 2014, Pendulum opened. This was a thirty-meter-high vertigo attraction. AquaFan opened during winter 2014. The Samba and Barco Pirata attractions were relocated. La Carreta Desbocada disappeared. The Fuente de Aguas Danzantes was removed. A wave pool and water slides were added.
In July 2015, Tigre Center opened. It featured bowling, arcade games, and more. In 2020, Fenix Group bought the park. In 2022, new games and a Space Vision 3D simulator were added.
