Veri Center

Can you believe this unassuming structure was once a pioneer? Veri Center, right here before us, was Jutland’s very first shopping center. It opened its doors in 1969. Veri Center shares a unique architectural connection with the yellow brick Børglum Kollegiet building next door. That building was completed in 1967. Initially, the housing association Arbejdernes Andels Boligforening (AAB) owned Veri Center. They purchased it along with some residential properties. AAB also built the Veriparken apartment blocks just north of the center. Those were erected in 1959, 1961, and 1968. Veri Center underwent a modernization in 1998. It expanded by 500 square meters in 2006. Fast forward to 2013. AAB, despite Veri Center’s popularity and profitability, couldn’t expand the center further. Danish law prohibited housing associations from commercial investments. They sold Veri Center to Nordic Real Estate Partners (NREP) for 114 million kroner on December 13, 2013. The new owners launched a 1,000-square-meter expansion and renovated the existing buildings in 2014. Today, Veri Center houses around 28 shops and welcomes approximately 2 million visitors annually. Inside, you’ll find a mix of retailers. You have everything from fashion and beauty products to everyday essentials. Supermarkets like Kvickly, REMA 1000, and Netto offer a wide selection of groceries. There’s also a pharmacy and a health center here at Veri Center.
