The Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the Philippines CAMACOP has deep roots. It traces its origins to the Christian and Missionary Alliance C&MA in the USA. Early missionaries faced immense challenges. They were assigned to remote areas like the Sulu Archipelago and Western Mindanao. These regions were largely Muslim and animistic territories. Imagine the courage it took to spread the Gospel in such challenging circumstances. The first missionary Miss Ellen White’s stay was brief. She left after marrying a man from another denomination. John A Mckee a former soldier followed. He aimed to start a vocational program. His companion returned home quickly. McKee tragically died the following year. Other independent missionaries also arrived later joining the Alliance work. Among them were Charles Gustaf Carlson William Bell David and Hulda Lund and Robert A Jaffray.

The first evangelical chapel rose in Tetuan Zamboanga in 1902. Two years later Ebenezer School opened. This school later evolved into a Bible College. After World War II a pivotal moment occurred. Rev Ralph E Bressler convened the first National Workers Conference in 1947. Thirteen self-supporting churches united forming what is now CAMACOP. In 1949 CAMACOP gained legal recognition via the Securities and Exchange Commission SEC. It’s led by a National Executive Board including the President Vice-President ministers and laymen. In 2005 the By-Laws were amended adding the titles of Executive Bishop and Auxiliary Bishop.
