Sophia Fukuoka Junior-Senior High School began as Fukuoka Catholic Seminary in 1932. A. ブルトン司教, a Catholic bishop, founded it. In 1934, it became Hirao Gakuen. By 1936, it transformed into Taisei Junior High School.

The Society of Mary took over management in 1946. In 1947, the new Taisei Junior High School opened. The new Taisei Senior High School followed in 1948. The school法人 Taisei Gakuen was established in 1951.

Taisei Junior High School closed in 1959. The Catholic Diocese of Fukuoka took over management in 1969. In 1974, Sophia Fukuoka Junior-Senior High School moved to its current location. The Society of Jesus took over management in 1983.

Taisei Junior High School reopened in 1984. High school recruitment stopped in 1989. Full integration of junior and senior high education was established in 1991.

Sophia Fukuoka Junior-Senior High School became a sister school with St. Joseph High School in East Timor in 1997. Sophia University began educational collaboration in 2010. In 2011, the school was renamed Sophia Fukuoka Junior-Senior High School.

The junior high school became coeducational in 2012. The high school followed suit in 2015. In 2016, the school merged with the Sophia School Corporation. The school’s name remained unchanged.
