In Lyon’s vibrant 3rd arrondissement, nestled on Rue Baraban, stands the Mosquée Es-salem. A hub of faith and community, the Mosquée Es-salem isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the dedication and generosity of its community. The mosque has embarked on an ambitious expansion project. The adjacent building, covering 200 square meters, will be transformed. The plans include prayer halls across three levels, all adhering to public building regulations. Mosquée Es-salem’s vision is to create a unified and expansive worship space. This will connect to the existing building at 162 Rue Baraban. This undertaking requires significant structural reinforcement to support the additional three floors. The goal is to provide a modern, welcoming space for the growing community and their children. The project aims to raise a substantial sum of 500,000 euros for this phase. The total estimated cost for the entire extension project is 1,200,000 euros, with a deadline set for July 1, 2024. The Mosquée Es-salem relies on the continued support of its community and beyond to achieve this ambitious goal. This project ensures that Mosquée Es-salem will continue to serve as a beacon of faith and community in Lyon. In addition to the expansion, Mosquée Es-salem offers various educational programs. These include literacy courses, Arabic language instruction focused on understanding the Quran, and Quran memorization classes.
