Who would have thought that a used-car dealership could become a beacon of hope? Right here, at 10858 South Michigan Avenue, stands the Roseland Christian Ministries Center. It actually started its life as a used-car dealership. In 1954, this very building was donated by Dick Van Eck to house the Christian Reformed Church’s radio ministry, known as the Back to God Hour. The ministry thrived here for 22 years. It even birthed the “Today” devotional, which continues to offer spiritual solace to many in the Roseland community. Now, the Roseland Christian Ministries Center serves as a lifeline for the community. It houses a women’s shelter, a food pantry, and a gathering place for Sunday worship. Every week, around 400 “Today” devotional booklets arrive here. They are distributed to those seeking solace and guidance. These booklets, born from this very location’s legacy, offer a beacon of hope in challenging times. Roseland Christian Ministries Center stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the community.
