Established in 1977, Bedok View Secondary School started its journey at Siglap Malay School. It served as a temporary home. Bedok View Secondary School began with a mix of English and Chinese stream classes. The school’s first principal, Mr. Mohd Said B H A Samad, guided the school for three and a half years. In January 1978, Bedok View Secondary School moved to its current location at 6 Bedok South Avenue 3. The official opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1979. The former MP for Bedok, Tuan Haji Sha’ari Tadin, officiated the event. This marked a significant milestone. Bedok View Secondary School became the first government secondary school in Bedok New Town. The school underwent significant expansion and renovation in 1992. This project included a new four-story classroom block. The upgraded facilities encompassed 36 classrooms, a commerce room, and multiple science and computer labs. The library, staff room, and canteen also received enhancements. Further renovations took place in 1998 through the Repair & Repainting Programme. These improvements created a more conducive learning environment for students and staff. Bedok View Secondary School completed its PRIME upgrading project in mid-2005. This included the addition of an Indoor Sports Hall and a synthetic soccer field, which are available for public use. In 2015, Bedok View Secondary School launched two key programs. These were the Applied Learning Programme (ALP) and Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). The ALP, Global Awareness for the 21st Century@BV, aims to develop students into globally aware thinkers and communicators. The LLP, Good Values@BV, focuses on reinforcing school values and social-emotional learning through real-life experiences. Bedok View Secondary School celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2017. The theme was “Blazing a Trail @40.” The celebrations included the construction of the BV Lighthouse and the creation of a Heritage Wall. The school also produced its first corporate video and hosted an alumni homecoming dinner. In 2022, the school marked its 45th anniversary with the theme “Beacons of Hope.” A Gift It Bag Campaign was organized to promote environmental awareness. Bedok View Secondary School continues to evolve and inspire. It stands as a beacon of education in the Bedok community.
