Sculpted in steel, the Together Sculpture stands as a testament to unity. Here in Fort Canning Park, this artwork invites you to explore its meaning. The Together Sculpture isn’t just a piece of metal. It’s a symbol of collaboration, forged in 1988 by the talented Mr Osman bin Mohammad from Brunei Darussalam. This sculpture was part of a larger project, the ASEAN Sculpture Symposium. This initiative, spanning from 1981 to 1989, aimed to foster a sense of community among Southeast Asian sculptors. The Together Sculpture stands as a physical representation of regional cooperation. The symposium’s first summit was held right here in Singapore. Five sculptors from each ASEAN member country created five-meter tall sculptures, now displayed throughout Fort Canning Park. The Together Sculpture holds a special place among these works. It replaced the Malaysian sculpture “Taning Sari” which unfortunately couldn’t withstand Singapore’s weather.
