On a stretch of highway, nestled between Hitchcock and Santa Fe, imagine a church. Not just any church, but the Midway Church of Christ. Why “Midway”? Because of its location, right smack in the middle of these two towns. Back in the late 1950s, a group of devout Christians dreamed of a place of worship in this area. They started small, gathering in the garage of a minister’s home on Temple Drive in Hitchcock. Soon, they built a modest church, but their faith and numbers continued to grow. Recognizing the need for a larger space, they set their sights on Highway 6. That’s how the Midway Church of Christ found its home in March 1971. From part-time ministers to full-time preachers, Midway Church embraced its mission to spread the word of God. They became a beacon of support, not just within their walls, but also reaching out to those in need locally and as far away as Mexico, Iowa, Brazil, and beyond.

Is it possible for a place to hold so much history in just one acre? You might not think so,
