We stood before a bridge, the Río El Pancorda flowing beneath it. “This river, my friends, was once the heart of León. Imagine crystal-clear water, a stark contrast to the urban landscape surrounding it today.” The Río El Pancorda, though now a shadow of its former self, was indeed once a source of life and inspiration. It flows through the heart of León, a 4.5 km journey from the north of the city to its outlet in the Estero Las Peñitas on the Pacific Ocean. The Río El Pancorda was a playground for the people of León. Families would gather on weekends to escape the city buzz, their laughter echoing along the riverbanks. Poets and musicians, inspired by the Río El Pancorda’s beauty, would compose works reflecting its serenity. Today, it stands as a reminder of the past, urging us to protect and cherish our natural treasures.
