Success whispers from the heart of Orchard Road. Masjid Al-Falah stands before you a testament to faith amidst the bustling city. This isn’t just any mosque. It’s the only one on Orchard Road a unique landmark. Built in 1987 Masjid Al-Falah opened its doors to serve the Muslim community working living or visiting this vibrant area.
The story of Masjid Al-Falah is intertwined with the development of Orchard Road. As older mosques relocated to accommodate the area’s redevelopment this mosque rose on the podium of a 32-storey commercial building. A first of its kind in Singapore.
Masjid Al-Falah welcomes Muslims from all walks of life and all nationalities. It’s a place of unity a haven of peace in the heart of Singapore’s shopping paradise. But it wasn’t always this way. The mosque’s roots trace back to the old Angulia Mosque at Angulia Park now the location of Wheelock Place.
The construction of Masjid Al-Falah was a significant undertaking. The property cost approximately S$1.7 million with another S$0.3 million spent on the interior design. This created a beautiful and functional space for worship and community gatherings.
In 2008 Masjid Al-Falah underwent its first renovation. This improved the layout of the classrooms and facilities. The focus shifted to providing Islamic knowledge in English. A move that greatly benefitted the English-speaking community.
A major upgrade happened in 2015 as part of the Mosque Upgrading Programme. The building owners generously provided more space. This doubled the size of the second floor and significantly increased the prayer area. The renovations also created a more accessible mosque for people with disabilities.
Today Masjid Al-Falah continues to thrive. It serves not only as a place of worship but also as a community center fostering harmony among diverse groups. It aspires to be a welcoming space for everyone regardless of religious background. This magnificent mosque stands as a beacon of faith and community on Orchard Road a true testament to success.
