This wasn’t always here. Before 2012 students gathered in Murray-Herrick. The Anderson Student Center dramatically changed student life. It’s the heart of the campus now.
Construction began in May 2010. It cost $66 million. The city government approved the project. It opened in January 2012. It quickly won awards for its design. Finance & Commerce and the Association of College Unions International recognized its excellence.
The design reflects student input. Students helped choose the furnishings. The goal was a state-of-the-art gathering place. It’s a community space for students staff faculty and guests. The large central atrium is a key feature. It provides easy access to the main areas. The circular staircase is stunning. Expansive windows face the quad.
Students love it. They meet here. If they’re bored they check out what’s happening. There’s always something going on. Even national recognition arrived. Best College Values ranked it among the 30 most amazing student unions. It came in at number 10.
This building isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to collaboration. Student input shaped its design and function. The Anderson Student Center is more than a building. It’s a hub.
