In 1982, Bowen Secondary School first opened its doors in Ang Mo Kio. It’s hard to imagine now, as we stand here at its current location on Lorong Napiri, that Bowen Secondary School once called another place home. The move happened in December 1999. This marked a new chapter for Bowen Secondary. In 2000, the school transitioned to a single-session format. It had a student population of 1374 pupils at the time. Bowen Secondary School’s motto, “I Believe, Therefore I Am,” reflects its core values. The school believes in fostering lifelong learning, character development, and a spirit of service in its students. Their ChANgeMaker programme embodies this spirit. It provides students with opportunities to learn, serve, and engage in design thinking. Michelle Chia, a well-known television presenter and actress with Mediacorp, is among Bowen Secondary’s notable alumni. Her success is a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing talent and potential. Bowen Secondary offers three academic streams. These are the four-year Express course, the Normal (Academic) course, and the Normal (Technical) course. This range of options allows students to pursue their interests and academic goals. Bowen Secondary School also participates in Subject-Based Banding. In fact, it was one of the pioneering schools selected by the Ministry of Education to pilot aspects of Full Subject-Based Banding in 2020. This innovative approach allows students to learn subjects at different levels, catering to their individual strengths and learning paces. As you explore the grounds of Bowen Secondary School, remember its rich history and its dedication to its students. From its beginnings in Ang Mo Kio to its current home on Lorong Napiri, Bowen Secondary has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of its students. Its commitment to nurturing passionate learners, leaders, and champions remains constant.
