Roar of the crowd. Feel the energy. You are standing before Nova Iguaçu Futebol Clube. A giant in the Baixada Fluminense football scene. This isn’t just a club. It’s a story etched in orange.

Nova Iguaçu Futebol Clube was born on April 1st 1990. Twenty-five entrepreneurs had a dream. They wanted a professional football club in their vibrant city. One of those founders was Zinho. A 1994 World Cup champion. He became a director-partner. Their vision started small. In a forty-square-meter room. It grew. It expanded.

The club’s success story started quickly. In 1994 only four years after its founding Nova Iguaçu won the Campeonato Carioca Third Level. This victory secured promotion to the second level. They climbed the ranks steadily. In 2005 they conquered the Campeonato Carioca Série A2. This led to their promotion to the First Division in 2006. Their first match a historic win against Flamengo.

Imagine the electrifying atmosphere. A stunning 1-0 victory. But it wasn’t just any victory. Flamengo played their alternate team. The club’s rise continued. In 2008 they claimed their first Copa Rio title. A hard fought 3-2 win against Americano.

Nova Iguaçu’s colours are a bold statement. Orange shirts white shorts and orange socks. They’re known as the Carrossel da Baixada. The Baixada Carousel. The nickname is a tribute to the Dutch team’s 1974 World Cup orange kit. A clever nod to Nova Iguaçu’s past. The city was once a major orange exporter. The fruit remains a city symbol.

Their home stadium Estádio Jânio Moraes nicknamed Laranjão. It’s a testament to the club’s dedication. It seats 5000 people. The club is proud of its achievements. Their successes on and off the field. Their rise from a small dream to a major force.

Nova Iguaçu Futebol Clube. It’s not just a team. It is a symbol of ambition. Perseverance and the unyielding spirit of Nova Iguaçu. A legacy built on passion and victory. A story still being written. A story you’ve witnessed firsthand.
