A climbing problem can be climbed ‘on-sight’. This means without prior information. It can be ‘flashed’. This means climbed on the first attempt but with information. The best style of ascent is an on-sight flash. A ‘problem’ can be ‘worked’. Success only comes after several attempts.
Block Out uses Fontainebleau grades. They are an open-ended numerical system. They run from around 3 up to 8. Maybe even 9 currently. Each number has a letter added. It can be a, b, or c. From the 6th grade, it can be further nuanced. It can be a ‘+’ or a ‘-‘ symbol.
